Schenk, Ryan - Physical Education Teacher

This will be my 16th year in District 56. I started teaching at old Gurnee Grade School and then River Trail School. I am excited to start at my new position at Viking Middle School. I am a graduate of Carthage College in Kenosha. My wife is a principal in Buffalo Grove and we live with our two dog and two cats. In my spare time I enjoy being active:running, weight lifting, playing sports.

I am also the 8th grade boys basketball coach and have been involved in that for 16 years as well.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions in the 2021/2022 school year our PE expectations have been modified. We will not be changing into PE uniforms and masks will be required in all indoor activities. We understand the restrictions changes some things but we are trying our best to make sure we are using our time together effectively and efficiently in order to get as much active time as possible. One thing we have talked to the students about is the importance of self-regulation when it comes to exercising with a mask on.
