BIRDING

The concepts we learn in science are all around us if we keep our eyes peeled. The variety of birds we can see in Lake County (over 260 species annually!) is just one example - we all know Robins and Cardinals, but it doesn't take much work to find a monstrous Great Blue Heron or a tiny American Goldfinch. Watch the telephone wires on your bus ride home tonight and you'll probably spot a Red-Tailed Hawk looking for some dinner.

With our small marsh behind Viking, we have an opportunity to see some interesting birds.  Below is a list of birds that have been spotted around Viking School.

To the right is a Cedar Waxwing. It was perched outside of school about a week before school started.
