My emphasis in the classroom is on helping students appreciate the joy of learning through differentiated instruction that fosters student interest and engagement in all subject matters. I strive to support deep and meaningful relationships between students and texts. I offer a comprehensive approach to literacy which includes read-alouds, word study, independent reading, and targeted skill conferences reflecting students’ strengths and needs. I utilize a variety of instructional approaches to support visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. I model and encourage students to take risks as active participants and partners in their learning.

I have taught elementary education for 10 years now and deeply enjoy it. I grew up in Glenview, Illinois, and went to Glenbrook South High School. After high school, I attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary education. Since then I have earned a certification in teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). My favorite place to travel to is San Francisco. Where I visit my best friend and hike across the Golden Gate Bridge. My weaknesses are Nutella and passionate learners! : )
