O'Brien, Stacey - Music/Drama

My name is Mrs. O'Brien and I am the music teacher at Prairie Trail School. This is my 14th year teaching at Prairie Trail (formally O'Plaine School) and in D56. I LOVE this district and especially love the many students and families I have worked with over the years. In addition to teaching grades 3-5 general music classes, I also run our school choir (Singers). My educational philosophy is to provide all students with positive musical experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment!

I went to college at the University of Illinois where I received my undergraduate degree in Music Education. I later attended Concordia University and received my Masters in Teacher Leadership.

My love of music began at a young age, with my parents encouraging me to sing as often as possible. Later, I joined the school choir, took vocal lessons, and performed in school musicals. My favorite musical to sing was/is Les Miserables! I found my true passion however, playing the trombone in fourth grade. I have since performed in many ensembles, including the Marching Illini, the University of Illinois Wind Ensemble, and currently the North Suburban Wind Ensemble, and have travelled across the globe to places like Spain, Ireland, England, The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, The Alamo, NYC, and more! I am so grateful for the many opportunities music has provided me.

As always, please contact me at my email with any questions or concerns...I am here to help!
